I used to share this concept back in the day when I taught yoga, but I think this idea - of nourishing ourselves first - can be helpful and healing in alllllll aspects of our lives.
Serving from full. Maybe its a gentle reminder to take a big, deep breath before sharing a hard truth, or making sure you create firm and loving boundaries in your relationships. Maybe it’s advocating for rest or listening to our bodies need for a break. Saying no to overcommitting and people pleasing and instead, saying yes to the daily habits and rituals that truly hold your tender heart.
As a women, a mother, a partner, a business owner - it’s sooooo easy for me to succumb to burnout. So easy to give to everyone else around me, and leave nothing left for myself.
This reminder, like a mantra, or a prayer, has been a consistent way to remember that I too deserve to feel nourished and fulfilled. That I can’t pour from an empty cup. And that the VERY BEST version of myself is on the other side of self care and self responsibility. And most importantly, that I can show up so beautifully and so thoughtfully for the people I love most when I advocate for my own needs too.
Wherever you are, whatever nourishes you, I hope you find it.
I hope you say the words, and make the time.
I hope you move and serve from a place of fullness and vibrancy.
Cause you most certainly deserve it.
